Clean Production Action is a solutions organization. Our mission is to design and deliver strategic solutions for green chemicals, sustainable materials, and environmentally preferable products.
We are a small, dynamic, and high functioning team. Our tools, GreenScreen® for Safer Chemicals and Chemical Footprint Project, simplify the complexity of substituting toxic chemicals with green chemistry solutions. Our collaborations, BizNGO and Investor Environmental Health Network, provide effective platforms for practitioners and thought leaders to work together in advancing chemicals, materials, products, and systems that are healthy for people and the planet.
We seek a dynamic, energetic individual with strong writing, organization, and communication skills to fill the Communications and Program Coordinator position. Ideal candidates will have a passion for environmental and human health, a commitment to developing and implementing safer solutions to toxic chemicals, and the ability and willingness to perform and manage a wide range of communications, program, and administrative tasks.
The Communications and Program Coordinator is at the center of our work, working closely with program staff, the Executive Director, and Operations Manager in developing content, promoting programs, and elevating the prominence of our work through digital, telephonic, and in-person platforms. The roles of the Coordinator are diverse: marketing all aspects of the organization, creating meeting agendas, scheduling meetings across programs, working with our extended networks, and managing website and database of contacts. This position is based in our Somerville, MA office and reports to the Operations Manager.
The Communications and Program Coordinator:
Leads and manages the development and dissemination of communications and marketing content, including:
- creating or coordinating the development of materials (e.g., press releases, messaging content, newsletters, and blogs),
- designing newsletters,
- outreaching to reporters and/or stakeholders,
- working with the Executive Director and staff in creating a communications plan,
- disseminating content through websites, social media, and other digital platforms,
- managing and updating website content,
- owning the communications calendar,
- supervising communications intern, and
- maintaining database of contacts within contact management software (Salesforce).
Coordinates and markets education and training events, which range from in-person BizNGO Annual Meeting to online courses and webinars. Responsibilities include:
- managing logistics for conferences, meetings, and trainings, including caterers, registration, venues, and on-site support,
- coordinating speakers and speaker presentations,
- supporting online digital platforms and needs of participants,
- preparing documents and materials,
- marketing events through online platforms, social media, and contacts, and
- assisting with follow-up needs.
Supports effectiveness and efficiency of programs and external projects, including the Cancer Free Economy Network, by:
- assisting with research and writing where appropriate,
- responding to program and organizational inquiries,
- scheduling calls and in-person meetings,
- supporting the development of meeting agendas,
- writing meeting notes,
- managing online meeting sites and listservs, and
- highlighting and tracking follow-up tasks.
Provides office support by supporting office management, including, for example, ordering office and printer supplies, coordinating printer repair and maintenance, and assisting with printing, scanning, and filing contracts, legal documentation, and other operational needs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Effective communicator in a business setting – including professional email and phone manner, excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Extremely organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
Able to use a diverse variety of online and software platforms.
Social media experience.
Self-motivated and able to work in a fast moving and evolving organization.
Have ability to manage and communicate competing priorities.
One-two years of relevant administrative experience.
Ability to juggle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
Confidence interfacing with senior management, taking initiative to get the job done and improve processes along the way.
Excellent people and communication skills.
Software skills – various platforms & programs.
Attention to detail and follow through is extremely important.
Ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
Excellent technical aptitude is required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
The position is based in our Somerville, MA office. The office is accessible via stairs or elevator. The work environment is an open floor plan office that can be noisy at times. Work will primarily be on computer and telephone, and involve using a keyboard for most of the day.
