GreenScreen Certified® Cleaners and Degreasers gain international promotion in new ChemWorks Repository

On April 6, 2023 a new repository, ChemWorks, was launched to provide a free database of certified cleaners and degreasers used in the electronics sector that meet or exceed minimum safety and health criteria, and are protective of worker health and the environment. All Gold and Platinum GreenScreen Certified Cleaners and Degreasers are featured as part of this initiative between ChemForward and Apple to expand the awareness of safer products on the market and help manufacturers reformulate with safer chemicals.

For years, Apple has used GreenScreen® for Safer Chemicals to assess and promote safer chemicals in their supply chain, and 100% of their final assembly sites now utilize only approved safer cleaners. Clean Production Action looks forward to growing the market in safer chemicals that will protect workers, particularly women workers, who are highly represented in factory settings.  You can also find GreenScreen Certified Cleaners and Degreasers on the Clean Electronics Production Network’s list of “certified products and accepted substances.”

GreenScreen Certified products continue to grow the market in safer chemistry

As demand rises for products free of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS), we continue to see market uptake of GreenScreen Certified products. In particular, the number of GreenScreen Certified firefighting foams has expanded as the industry, including large-scale purchaser US Department of Defense, looks to solutions beyond PFAS containing foams.  All GreenScreen Certified products are PFAS-free and free of thousands of other chemicals of concern.  Read more about how GreenScreen Certified products across six product sectors are meeting the demand for safer chemistry that protects people and the planet.
